Here is a question to MacBook Pro owners who also had experience with a "standalone" iSight: how does the image quality compare?
I will be buying a MacBook Pro in the next... say... 40 minutes, but in order to plan my budget, I have to decide whether to Ebay my current external iSight.
Did anyone perform any (unscientific) tests on this?

i cant say much about the macbook pro but the regular mac book seems to be on par with the stand alone isight. we had a few tested for fun and it seems to be just as good as the regular isight. but you can move it around. that is the only problem that we really had with it. but these were unscientific test just a bunch of guys having fun in the office.:p

I have a MB, while my bro has a PB with the moveable isight. The quality of the built in isight (i.e MB, MBP, iMac) seems to be alot better than the external one. Pic quality looks much better and sharper to me, and there isn't as much drag.

Quality is better with the internal one, and it has better results in darkly lit areas than the external iSight.

Did I read somewhere that the built-in ones are not as well specced as the standalone ones? Fixed focus vs. autofocus? Or was it the quality of the mic? I can't remember where I saw it now.

Logic seems to say that a small device is unlikely to be as good as a larger one.

The focal length is a bit different, they can't focus as close up, but then we're looking at distances of a few centimeters there so it's really not relevant but that's the only difference I've heard of.

I'm sorry, but without an iSight that can swivel and tilt in different directions and angles, I'm really limited in the style and positions that I can use in my porn films.
