Attached are two snapshots from DetroitBORG video. The 2016 model's keyboard has little to no light bleeding. My MBP 2017 13" however looks more like the snapshot of the previous model. (It doesn't. Please see the edit section.)

Can anybody please post a pic of their macbook pro 2017?

EDIT: I was wrong. I saw the actual difference just now. From some posts online I found out what they were talking about regarding detroitborg's video The keyboard brightness is very low and 2015 looked way worse compared to 2016 model. I have been observing my keyboard and it's FINE. I'm attaching a photo for reference.

My 2017 MBP TB 13" at 50% keyboard brightness.

Could you post a picture of your laptop in a similar fashion?

I have a 2016 and there's no light leaking, however small particles of dust that get under the keys will reflect a little bit of light giving a kind of light illusion. If I blast it with compressed air there's no problem.

That's the first thing that I'll do next time I get the scope to take photo of the laptop. I'm travelling till 24th.
I have no issue with dust though.

Can you please post a photo of your system's keyboard while in a dark environment?

There is no light leaking at all in Detroitborg's video. Does your 2016 model look exactly like that ?

Pretty much apart from the dust, it looks like a small galaxy beneath the keys. I can try if I remember tonight.

This is interesting!! - if it so happens that the 2017 has slightly more light visible on the sides, it makes me curious if this perhaps had something to do with Apple modifying the keyboard design. The 2017 models definitely have fewer keyboard issues (and in my subjective opinion are more consistent in sound & feel), and as the consistency, sticking, & sound issues with the 2016 keyboards seemed to have at least something to do with heat expansion...

Has anyone taken a caliper to the keys and key cutouts in the topcase to compare the 2016 and 2017? There's been tons of focus on the mechanism, but what about the size? Could an extremely tiny change that the eye can't pick up on have gone unnoticed?

I'll have to see if we still have any 2016s at work so I can take a side-by-side picture of it with a 2017 MBP. My 2017 rMB has more visible side light than my 2016 MBP did and I feel the 2017 rMB keyboard has larger spacing gaps between the outer edges of the key and the inner edges of the key hole cutout on the topcase - I just automatically assumed it was because they were different models.

I’ll have a 2016 MBP at my disposal tomorrow. I’ll compare side by side to get to the end of this.

I checked a 2016 model this afternoon. I found no difference between my 2017's keyboard and 2016's keyboard. I posted a photo of my MBP in the opening post.

I don't see anything else than different exposure. If you exposure the image from the video like the picture you took of your own MBP, they would look very similar. Assuming you have the same keyboard light settings.

Stop worrying about these insignificant issues and start using your laptop.
