Hi there,

Is it possible for my macbook pro to wake itself up if I use Home Sharing on my ATV's even if the lid is closed? I can't seem to get this to work.

Regards,
Simon

I believe if you are trying to do this over wifi you need a router which supports it, I know the Airport ones do, not sure about 3rd party ones tho.

I'd be interesting in this too.

I have an Air and a Time Capsule, as far as I know, it doesn't do WOL.

Very happy to be corrected

I've got an ATV3, late 2008 Macbook and Time Capsule (1st gen). Streaming works fine even when the Macbook is asleep as long as the lid is even slightly open. All the WOL boxes are checked. Doesn't bother me so much as I just leave the Macbook open.

I don't have an Apple TV but I stream music to an Airport Express via the Remote app. I managed to wake the computer with the lid closed with the Remote app but it only stays awake for a short time (like 10 seconds). It then goes to sleep again. If I leave the lid open it's no problems to wake up the computer and it keeps awake as it should.
I don't know if it's a bug or if it's supposed to only work with the lid open.

I don't understand that though. What difference does the lid being open / closed make?

I'm getting the same thing. With the lid open the Macbook Pro can go to sleep and then the Apple TV can wake it fine..

Lid closed... It looks like my Macbook is sleeping just the same. But it won't wake at all.

Does lid open sleep mode differ from lid closed sleep mode somehow?
If so is there a way to make them act the same?

Regards,
Simon
