I bought a MBP about two weeks ago and today I was holding it with the lid closed, and I noticed that the lid was flexed upwards. The right side is flexed upwards more than the left although they both are flexed. I am going to get it replaced the next opportunity I have at an apple store. Has anyone else had this problem?

I they are all like this. The ones I sent back were and I expect the one that i am getting Monday to be the same. I hate the fact that the first one I sent back was at least flexed evenly on both sides.
What a load of crap. This really bothers me, especially because I spent a significant amount of money from my already bone dry student budget, and I get flawed hardware. This is my first Mac btw, and every Mac person I know told me about how everything was perfect in Mac Land. Well I guess it isn't. There are so many things that are just so annoying, that I am sure Apple could fix. Like the standard mouse driver. 3 buttons including the the scroll click. Unfortunately I have a 5 button made by Microsoft, so there are no OS X drivers. Now I am stuck with a 3 button mouse. Is it so hard to make a better mouse driver? And uninstalling stuff isn't as simple as dragging an app to the trash. No I have to pay for an app (AppZapper) just to uninstall stuff. One more thing that really bothers me, is that there is no way to delete stuff without moving it to the trash. What if I want something just gone? I have empty my trash and possibly lose some important file I accidentally deleted. Please mac users, be realistic when telling your windows buddies how the grass is one thousand times better on the other side because it really is just as green. /rant
Whew. Glad I got that out of my system. Aside from those gripes I am glad I picked up a Mac instead of a PC, and I would never return my new Macbook Pro.

Whoa. Now I'm sure that you must be grumpy that your lid isn't perfectly flat, but I think that rant is a tad excessive. Firstly, I believe it is a cooling issue that Apple curve the screen up at the front corners. If you don't like it, you can apparently get the corners straightened by Apple folks, if it really drives you bonkers. No problems.
If this is the only flaw you can find...
OK, so it's Apple's fault that you can't get 5 button microsoft mouse drivers? Come on man. Buy a new mouse, search the net harder, or live with 3.
I think you are doing something wrong if you need to pay for programs to delete stuff. What the hell kind of programs are you using anyway? Nothing I use requires anything more than a drag to trash to get rid of. And by the way, I fail to see how stuff gets in your trash unless you want it there. If it was a case of clicking delete, you wouldn't have a second chance. And finally, try clicking on what you want gone, press Apple + Delete, then Apple + Shift + Delete. Works a charm.
I give you a fortnight. After that time, you will return here and apologise for your rant. You'll see.
I know this is probably total BS and part of the reality distortion field, but I heard that they are this way to allow for proper venting while operating in lid closed mode, which kinda explains why (I think ) all of the MBP have the problem and not just some (which would indicate shoddy manufactoring)

Yea you are probably I am just annoyed on the 2 g's that I dropped on this and not having it perfect. I mean come on the way everyone hypes apple I figured everything would be perfect, but I guess I learnt my lesson.
However, about the mouse. Your "fix" for my situation is insane. I love my mouse. It is the only mouse that I have had that is perfect. Completely perfect. Although it is showing signs of wear, I would not trade it for the world. And if Apple was such a genius with UI then they should have gotten this fixed years ago. I mean come on, being able to support all mice is such a basic requirement for any os. Both Ubuntu and Windows support all 5 buttons without any hassle. I shouldn't have to go on the web to find a driver for my plain old usb mouse. Even if I did get a new mouse, I would still have to find the OS X driver. This one problem I find truly unacceptable for a company who has such high standards for UI.
Did all the buttons work when you plugged in the mouse? Or, did you have to find drivers for it?
How far is the lid flexed upwards? I wasn't even aware this was an issue. Is the gap significant enough to allow dirt into the MBP? Thanks.
You have the same problem in Windows... Its the reality of software, you can't build drivers for everyone and you can't create generic drivers that work for all mice.
It leaves behind some Plists but for all intents and purposes, it is uninstalled.
?? The trash is there for sober second thought, if you were to circumvent that by deleting straight, why not always delete straight? or if you think you're going to make an error, why would you not just always use the trash? You seem like the exception, not the norm. Good designers always design for the norm.
Btw, does Windows offer this?
This I'll have to agree with you, there are tooo many Mac Zealots. The fact is OS X is flawed as well. I just like it better than Windows XP (which btw.. also happens to be flawed).

1st the mouse, I've used a 5 button MS mouse with OS X you don't need drivers. Under the OS X control panel you can configure all the buttons to activate Expose etc, it just works as do 99% of USB mice on macs.
2nd, you can uninstall just by dragging to the trash or right clicking and choosing delete. For simple apps this will work fine, more complex applications usually include an unistaller either as a separate app or as part of the installer. Occassionally preference files will be left but these are tiny, Windows does the same thing with folders and files this is not unique to mac.
3rd, As far as I'm aware even on Windows all deleting goes via the trash can. This is just how it goes. On a mac you can get there via dragging, right clicking or pressing command+backspace. Again not a unique mac point just how computer OS's work.
Finally the gap and lid flex is normally and has been around since the first aluminum Powerbooks. Actually some of the Titanium models suffered from it as well. It is not the results of bad build or poor design more production tolerances and catch design. The 17in models suffer worst because of the sheer size of the hinges and more over the top place. Metal pressing warp easily, try pushing down one side of your car bonnet. The catches on Pro models are magnet and to not firmly connect the two parts together, this could be seen as a flaw especially in light on the magnets on Macbooks. The gap does prevent the keyboard from touching the screen and provides a little ventilation, as a by product, when the lid is closed. Small third party products called Wildpeepz http://www.radtech.us/Products/Wildeepz.aspx are available which will pad out the gap and stop the movement if you really want to.

I do all my deleting in windows through shift delete. I only put stuff in the trash if I will probably not need it but I just want to be safe. The deleting stuff and uninstalling are minor gripes however, this mouse thing is very major.

Afaik the way a mouse sends a button press to the os is standard. I mean if both Windows and Linux can get this right without any issue why can't Apple do it?

Well as I stated previously depending on what your wanting to do with the mouse buttons most OS related features can be setup to utilise them under system preferences.
The Expose panel should let you setup the buttons to trigger various functions related to that area. More specialised things would be related to software.
I knew I'd seen it somewhere, Microsfots Intellipoint software is available for Mac http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/Download.mspx just put in your details and select OS X as the OS. When I got my first 17in Powerbook I used the software. That might help you.

As for dragging apps to the trash, if that doesn't satasfy you and you want an uninstaller, you don't have to pay for it, there are bunches of uninstaller programs (although all they do is find all those files that were put on your comp from the program and delete them, which can be done through spotlight mostly) that are completely free and all features work.
If the solutions already posted for getting your 5-button mouse don't work, you can try downloading USB Overdrive and configuring it with that program.

I had a friend who had a similar issue with his 12'' PB a few years ago and he said apple fixed it within 3 working days and it was perfect. A previous poster also mentioned that Apple fixed it up at no extra charge; I think I might go that route as well...

for the mouse, its not macs fault but the company of the mouse. They have to make drivers for mac just like they make them for windows. I have been a windows user for years and still am, but every fancy mouse I bought that had more than 2 buttons, I had to download the drivers from Microsoft or logitech.
