MacBook Pro Locking Up 10.12.4

I don't want to blame any one thing this soon after an OS update, but twice since I updated to 10.12.4, my MacBook Pro has locked up and required a hard reboot. Once while selecting a layer in Illustrator and once when opening the lid and unlocking with my Apple Watch.

Again, I don't know where the blame lies, I just want to document this now, just in case there is a larger problem.

I think I've linked it to the GPU Performance button in Illustrator. Disabling that has seemingly stopped the freezes. I have a 2015 13" Retina MacBook Pro.

Same problem keyboard and mousepad freeze constant color wheel spinning. Safari freezes, won't come up or just does nothing after the update.
