Hello,
I just recently purchased a used M1 MBP and it's been giving me issues. I've purchased a couple of different USB C hub adaptors in order to connect it to an external monitor and to connect things such as memory cards and it won't read them. I have another USB C SSD that sometimes connects and sometimes it doesn't. Same with charging, sometimes it works, sometimes it won't even acknowledge it. I've run diagnostics and re-installed the newest OS. The repair shop I got it from was no help. Should I replace the ports? Downgrade OS? Apart from that, the computer works great. Any advice is welcome.

Can you connect any of these devices directly? If so, do they work?

Which hub adapters did you try?

There have been a lot of posts about hub and dock problems. I had an OWC hub that I had to ditch years ago because devices keep disconnecting. I'd do a bit of research if you can to determine if people have reported problems. Make sure you can return it if it doesn't work.

I sadly cant return so my best bet is to replace the ports :/ got a J5 one at best buy and it didn’t work.

You want a POWERED hub (with its own power supply block).

Relying on "bus power" and an UN-powered hub might lead to disconnections from lack of sufficient bus power...

Agreed. Each peripheral that doesn't have dedicated power will try to suck power from the hub until the hub can no longer sustain anything and shut down.
