Macbook Pro M1Max keyboard unresponsive at login can't enter login password

Hey guys.

So I just tried booting up and logging in and I cant because I cant type anything into the password input screen at login, and the lights on my keyboard are not lighting up. I did not do anything different, but it is concerning.

The mousepad does work as I can move around the cursor and I intend on getting an external keyboard today, and I am praying that works. Is this usually a quick fix?

If you have an Apple Magic Keyboard you can just plug it in to reconnect.

yup I have, which is a short term fix

It may sound silly, but are you sure you keyboard switch is in the "on" position.

Does the led on the Caps Lock light up when pressed? If not, a call to Apple support is in order. If yes then it is likely a software issue.
