Macbook pro M2 14.2 inch or Macbook pro M1 chip

jsut wanted to jump into Apple and wondering what's the best buy to last me longer. is it a good time to buy or wait for price reduction. In UK what site you will look for a lower price / deals.
MBP M2 512gb 16gb ram 2023 vs MBP M1 512 gb 16 gb ram
This will be used for basic work and at times video and picture editing.
is it worth to get 512 gb or can you use external storage and if yes what to use.
i have got 200 gb icloud, my iphone 14 is 512 gb.

If you can get it for a bargain, the 14" MBP with the 10-core M1 Pro is still a killer machine. Obviously you pay more for more performance, but the M1 Pro has yet to disappoint me.
