I would like some advice for those who know and use notebooks from other brands such as Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7? The price for those like me who live in Italy is more or less equivalent, if you consider the MacBook M4 Max. I am worried about the fact that I have to spend €2,500/3,000 for a non-expandable laptop. For over 20 years I have been using HP laptops that the company makes available to me. And I must say that Win 10 is stable, it does not give me the usual problems that are now overcome: blocks, having to format the disk, etc. I am not interested in using the notebook for gaming, but for personal and work use. Honestly, for my use, even a Macbook Air would be enough. My video or photo editing is very limited, the slightly higher weight of the Pro is not a problem, but I would like a laptop that does not only have two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports. I would like to receive one or more opinions from those who have had experience with both models. At the moment the only tangible advantage, as a Windows laptop user, is that my cell phone has always been an iPhone. Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me advice.

The problem with Windows 10 is that it is only supported until October 2025 then you will need to upgrade to Windows 11 to keep getting security updates etc.

I find with my MacBook Pro that it just works when connecting to networks, mirroring to a TV and syncing with my iPhone and iCloud.

Our company HP Laptops do have issues when moving from one company location to another and connecting to our networks especially when plugging back into our docks and dual monitors.
One staff member recently threatened to throw his HP Laptop out of the window of his hotel room 10 stories up because he couldn't get onto the network via his VPN but he could with his MacBook Pro.

Maybe Windows 11 will be better....

Hi, I've been using a company computer for 2 years, an HP Elitebook, with an AMD Ryzen 5 PRO PRO 5650U processor with Radeon Graphic 16 GB RAM 512 GB SSD, 14-inch video with Full HD resolution. This year I switched from Win 10 Pro to Wind 11 Enterprise. I've never had a problem, never had to format the disk. What programs do I use: mainly office, then web programs: Sap, Microsofot D365 Crm, Chrome, Edge. The only real lack compared to a Mac is the battery life. But it only costs € 1000. The new MacBook air M4 13" with only 256 GB of SSD starts at € 1,249. It lacks USB ports, HDMI, I only have two USB-C ports. If the same comparison is made with the Macbook Pro, which costs twice as much, I continue to be perplexed.

No-one said Apple was cheap - they never have been.

Lack of ports could be an issue - However, How many USB ports do you use at once? and have never used my HDMI Port on my MacBook Pro as every meeting I have gone to has had a TV or display that was wireless, screen mirroring is a breeze

It's not a question of whether you use them or not, but today if you want a versatile Apple computer you have to go for the Pro. The Air, if you have a blocked USB-C because you're charging it, there's only one free. This isn't the case on any Windows laptop, and there are also USB ports. You're forced to buy a dongle. That said, I'd like to understand from those who have used both Mac and Windows systems, what is better on a Mac and what isn't. Considering that I don't use it for gaming or programming. I surf the Internet, I use Ms Office, and time permitting I'd also like to edit photos and videos. Nothing professional, just vacation photos and videos.

For your usage a MacBook Air 15 should be more than enough. You have 2 USB-C if you use the MagSafe charger. Get a dock if you feel the # of ports is going to be an issue. I personally prefer a single cable solution.

The Lenovo P1 is a fine laptop. I had one of the earlier versions. I like the Apple ecosystem more hence use Macs as the primary computer. I can live fine on Windows and use it at work.

Anyway it’s one of those things that you have to try to see if it makes sense for you. If you are hesitant to try then it probably isn’t the right choice anyway.

Thank you very much for the advice, but to try it I would have to buy it, that's why I'm asking those who know both systems

The Air has a seperate charging port - so you still 2 USB free - just saying...

I use both Windows and Mac's, some things are just easier on the Mac and there are some things that are better on the Windows machine. But as a type that it's just that they are different. Mac ecosystem is way better, in my opinion that OneDrive etc...

Just my opinion...
