What do you guys think? If I bought the base M4 pro 14, think it’ll be sufficient to edit on? I purchased the new mini M4 pro but having second thoughts.

Define video editing. For sure for basic editing and even more advanced editing in resolve it’ll be more than fast enough. Even my m1max is fast enough. It’s more about if you’re editing let’s say R3D footage or doing color grading that the max will be better suited.

My friend has been editing 4k from a full frame on the mac mini. But simple videos.

You can do a fair bit on air, so in some cases the m4 pro would be overkill.

So really depends what you are doing.

The M4 Pro is looking like a "unbinned version" of the M4 max. Huge boost compared to M3 Pro. The 12-Core version should be sufficient.

if my iPad Pro M4 can edit multiple 4K ProRes videos with ease in both Final Cut and Davinci Resolve iPad apps, The M4 Pro with the fans will blaze past it.

If it's 4k (or larger), I'd suggest an m4pro CPU.

And even the 16" display won't be "enough".
You'll probably want at least a 27" 4k external display as well.
