Macbook Pro Media Center

Hey guys, I'm going to replace my current MBP (2006) model with a new one soon and was wondering if it was possible I use it as a media center? If so, which programs would you suggest I use and how would you set it up?

Or should I scrap this idea and wait until I get a used Mac Mini from a year or two ago?

Right now, I only have my HDTV and some computer speakers to work with.

Certainly doable, although as you say, a mini might make more sense.

Frontrow + iTunes can do the business for you - all you really need are the cables to connect the setup to your TV + stereo
