Hi, I have a refreshed MacBook Pro mid-2009 that I cleaned entirely, upgraded with 8GB RAM, SSD and new battery, and installed Catalina, everything from scratch.

After doing it, I am facing this weird issue where, if the MacBook is unplugged, it will freeze, showing a black screen, if I close the lid or send it to sleep. Even if Caffeine is installed and set to not sleep the MacBook, it will just hang. Sometimes it goes to sleep correctly, but 95% of the times, if I close the lid, it will freeze and I have to hard reset it with the button.

Any suggestions?
Is this may be a bug of the DosDude patch?

It could be a bug but an easy way to eliminate this as a potential culprit is to install an older - and officially supported macOS such as El Capitan and then see whether the same problems are exhibited. If they're not, then you know that there might be an issue with Catalina.

Have you tried reinstalling Catalina just in case the current installation is corrupted in some way?

Hi!

No, I have not tried to install again Catalina, but I installed a fresh copy in a new SSD, new battery... I also reset NVRAM, PRAM and SMC. Yeah, I could try to install El Capitan, but it is quite a heavy solution just to check.

May be someone with the same MacBook and Catalina can tell me if it happens to him as well?
