Hi im having trouble on 15” MacBook Pro mid 2012 with nvidia graphics. So it didnt let me go to recovery mode or boot (freeze, reboot)
When i typed this command in single user mode
nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00
It let me in to recovery mode and install mountain lion os
Booted up and it worked. Next station was installing catalina - couldnt finish install - freeze - single user mode was not root even on Csrutil disable so i couldnt disable this gpu
I planned to install Big Sur with oclp but same issue - boot freeze - Csrutil disable - no root in single user mode so still couldn’t disable graphics
Installed high sierra and it booted up succesfully but after using program to disable dgpu from dosdude1 gpu fix site it’s working slow and it’s not usable. Before patch from app I think it worked more fluent.
My question is can i do something about that maybe reinstall drivers for nvidia gpu or just disable it from booting or it’s probably just dead and it will never work fine. Today I’m planning on Big Sur installation once again but with safe mode boot and if it let me in I will again type
nvram fa4ce28d-b62f-4c99-9cc3-6815686e30f9:gpu-power-prefs=%01%00%00%00
But is there better solution?
