MacBook Pro not grabbing DNS server info from DHCP

Hello,

I'm having an issue where my MBP isn't grabbing the DNS server info from DHCP. Inputting it manually works, and it's getting the gateway and IP just fine.

I had to run an app on my Droid to grab network info and get the DNS server IP's from that, then I put it in the network settings, and all is well. Kind of a pain though to have to do that.

Has anyone else run across this?

As I said, Droid grabs it, iPod touch grabs it, and Windows 7 grabs it on same laptop. so it's something unique to OS X 10.6.3 on this laptop.

126 views and I am the only who's ever had to manually set the DNS servers? Wow. I am lucky, I guess.

I have had the mac ignore dhcp settings because I had set a different DNS manually. You might make sure you haven't done that. Also look (using terminal) at /etc/resolv.conf. That file should have the ip address of your dns server in it.

Solved the problem by rebooting the router, feel a bit foolish now.

Same exact issue

I have two wireless networks that I use at home. One of the networks, my MBP is able to grab the DNS information correctly. For the other network, it is unable to grab the DNS server information. Instead it uses the default router IP as the DNS server 192.168.1.1 which fails to work.
