Hey I am a Senior in High School and I am looking at the 17inch MBP. Do you think it would be wise to buy now, or to wait a while?
chrisperra said:Well I do Photoshop stuff, Final Cut, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture and other apps like that. I have the cash now, and it'd be cool to have now. I have a G5 that i can use for the PPC only apps though.
chrisperra said:would it be rather safe to say that i could use photoshop on the macbook pro? i just need it to do some stuff at school... but i dont have the UB versions of Final Cut because I have the Academic versions and they wouldn't crossgrade and I don't have an extra $700 to throw down for Final Cut Studio Academic.
djkny said:Yes they would crossgrade. Read the fine print on apple's website. It's $49 for a full upgrade to the UB FCP Studio.
Erasmus said:BTW, Why do all these people keep complaining about students getting great computers? My parents bought me my cube when I was 13, first year at high school. Here I am, six years later, and it is still my only computer. It still does most things I need for my studies. It's called an investment. Perhaps we should be criticising you guys for buying new computers every six months (possible exaggeration)? Surely that is wasteful.
KingYaba said:I wish I could afford to buy a new computer every six months. But that's just impractical. I have been using a G3 powerbook going on 6-7 years and it's handled the abuse. I can only hope a MacBook Pro will do the same. Though I only plan to keep it in commission for four years. Or untill I graduate from college![]()
