Does anyone have the upgraded 2.4Ghz ntb w/ 16GB of RAM? I am curious about your battery life and your experience with Xcode and Web development or playing Civ5/6. It's very specific, I realize, but there is little information online about this configuration.

I currently have the 13in tbMBP and it's inadequate for a few reasons. First, I don't need a CPU with a 3Ghz baseline. I'm more than happy using less power and waiting a little longer for code to compile. Second, I loathe the Touch Bar. It's like a little animating banner ad in the periphery of my vision and it's distracting every time I switch to a different app. I cannot control its brightness or its display and I can only switch it to a static set of controls, in which case, what's the point of it anyway? And third, the battery is now something I actually have to think about. As an MBA owner, I've forgotten what the battery was unless I was playing a game on the train. Even then, I could get a couple of hours of low-framerate fun.

Rant over. I do love the new Macs, though. Great size, keyboard, touchpad, screen and speakers. Beautiful machines with unfortunate compromises in the 13in model.

If you can help answer the questions above, that would be very appreciated. Cheers.

I have one with that config. It's a good computer. Battery life is a little sketchy but not too bad. I use mine for web dev and it's doing fine. Haven't used it for any intense graphics load yet.

I was getting 6.5-10 hours before 10.12.2, after the update I consistently get 8-10 hours.

Also using mine for primarily backend development in Python & GoLang on PyCharm & Visual Studio Code - happy to report that this spec fits the bill for both use cases. Occasionally use XCode + Swift and the performance is good.

Also, I had the 3.3i7 Touch Bar model side by side with the nTB for a week before deciding to return the touch bar (mostly for reasons related to battery life and the inefficiencies the touch bar introduced into my keyboard-shortcut-oriented workflow).

The performance difference between the TB and nTB is not noticeable on the i7 configurations. Geekbench shows the 3.3 putting up a 5% higher score than the 2.4. Graphics performance is also a similar story according to notebookcheck when comparing the 540/550.
