Hi,

Currently I have a ibookG4, and its just not cutting it anymore. I am trying to figure out if i need the macbook pro or if the macbook would be good for me. I take my laptop with my everywhere. I do a lot of photography. Surf the web, Aim..etc. The screen size isn't a real big issue. But like i said i do LOTS of photography and need a quick computer to upload the pics, use photoshop, and stuff like that.

thanks,
thomas

Well when I'm down the shore, I hook up to someones router which my iBook barely connects to. So I guess the MacBook would be better for me? I will be waiting until leopard comes out anyway. So mabe they will have something new by then. Thanks

Im open to more opinions.

Other differences that are important to me are the MBP has a matte screen (which I think looks alot better than glossy) and MBP can have up to 4 gigs of ram (whereas MB can have 2 max).

Obviously you get a bigger screensize with MBP - there is a graphics card in the MBP which seems to only make a difference for games. I personally like the MBP keyboard better than the MB - but its up for personal taste.

Hope that helps!

.... I take my laptop with me everywhere...
Sounds like size and weight will matter, maybe a lot if have to carry it along with all the photo gear.

I'd definitely go with the Macbook myself. I think it will be plenty fast enough for what you want it for.

well i do like the glossy screen, and im not going to be playing many games. so the macbook should be good. now i have to decide black or white but i have a while :D

You would be more than fine with the MB from what you've said.

there is a graphics card in the MBP which seems to only make a difference for games.

Or if you're running apps like Motion, which are GPU intensive - but I would say you're broadly right, for many people it's only going to matter with 3D gaming.
