MacBook Pro overheating

MacBookPro 2009 model 8GB Ram
fans have been cleaned and activity monitor looks alright (sometimes a peak, but not for long)-
but still heat is by times (very) high
what could be the problem?

First, how do you know it overheating or getting hot?

One general option is to try replacing the thermal paste. But, first figure out if you have an issue.

Get something like istat menus that report the temps.

It's getting hot underneath. Hot when it's in your lap. Fan is a normal speed, by times faster

What is normal/ acceptable temperature? Compared to usage. How do measure? Istat menus?

100c is a number I've hear as getting pretty warm.

FWIW, my 2015 15 rMBP is hot when it is on my lap. And then when I check the Activity monitor the CPU has a process or two at 100%. It is usually do to stuff like websites that play video as soon as you go to a page, etc.
