I have been gifted with a 2017 MB Pro, 13-inch screen. The bottom 1/3 of the screen is covered with fine, horizontal lines which gently "strobe". Apple want $500 to replace the screen which they say was damaged by being placed, unprotected, in a backpack or whatever.
This model number is A1708.
Coincidentally, a senior I help with has a 2015 13" MacBook Pro (I don't know the Model number yet) with a bad battery for which Apple wants $500 to replace. Yes, you read that right: $500. Therefore, she is going to get a new M2 laptop when they come out later this year.
I have looked and looked and can't find any sort of Apple parts compatibility chart anywhere so...does anyone know if replacing the 2017 malfunctioning screen with the 2015 screen might work?
Many thanks.

Unfortunately it's not compatible. 2016-2017 are compatible with each other, and 2013-2014 are compatible with each other, but 2015 only works with 2015.
