Dudes, I got my my MacBook Pro today... it's great but it runs HOTTTT... hot like a 12" Powerbook does. Anyway I noticed this little icon that said "iWeb" so I published a little 3-page demo website using it, for your viewing pleasure. I included some photos I took of unpacking my MacBook, plus some commentary and a mini-review. But mostly I wanted to try out the built-in iSight camera and the cool special effects in Photo Booth. So check it out if you want. Don't be offended with my commentary I am just goofing around.

BTW, iWeb can publish its files to a folder, so I use rsync to push changes onto my website host easily. Not quite as sophisticated as 'vi', but it works. :)

Hey, thanks for sharing!
Nice info there, seems like some sort of table would be useful.

Now, I don't want to be an *sshole, but have you noticed any problems with the screen?
Seems that some people have some extra light at the bottom of the screen.

I don't have any problems with my screen at all. No line at the bottom or anything. When it's idling and in "half brightness mode" or whatever you call it, it does flicker very subtly, but not enough for me to care about. When running it is extremely bright, so much so that I keep it set at about 75% brightness - how it boots up the first time. It's already brighter than my CRT, as I mentioned in my mini-review, so I don't need it any brighter except when I'm outside. But turning that baby up to 100% and it is very nice.

I'm gonna add a table to my mini-review hopefully later today, with some GCC comparisons for compiling various open-source apps on the MacBook Pro. Since this is what I do a lot of, it's the only real speed comparison I can make.

BTW - can I mention again how hot this machine runs? Guys, don’t put it on your lap or you’ll have sweaty balls. And girls, well... considering how conservative and snooty the girls in Montreal here are, maybe something warm and sweaty down there actually might be a good idea.

hahahahahaha

MacBenchmark Pro

Cool... okay, I've added a couple of quick benchmarks. Well, not "quick" because it took my Powerbook G4 some 27 minutes to compile MySQL. I've added a little table to the site and my review; more to follow this evening when I get back from french class.

damn, now I need to fool with iWeb on my machine.

and yes, these things run DAMN hot, but they sure are fast!
