MacBook Pro Pixilation

I've heard that the 17" MacBook Pro is cabable of displaying 1900x1200 pixels, but when I go into System Preferences the maximum amount it will allow me to set is 1680x1050.

Can anyone explain why this is?

The Hi res screen was a build to order option. Not the standard.

Because you had to pay an extra $100 to get 1920x1280 pixelation BTO option?
