Macbook Pro power cord?

I want a longer cord to plug in my iPad to the wall outlet, can I use my power adapter that came with my Macbook Pro Unibody (I bought it in Feb.)

I can confirm the power cord does work with the iPad adapter. It works fine with my power cord I use on my unibody MacBook pro

Can I confirm if this is a simple case of taking the existing power lead out of the adapter and replacing with the one from the Mac? I am importing one from the states to the UK and looking at ways to power it from the mains. The theory being I use the UK lead from the macbook into the adapter.
