Macbook Pro Purchase

Hi! I've been lurking here for the past few weeks drooling over a Macbook Pro purchase. I'm going out of town tomorrow and will be purchasing a Macbook Pro. This is a strange question, but has anyone ever tried to pay for their Macbook Pro at the Apple store and then leave it there and pick it up at a later date? I'm leery about leaving the computer and accessories in the hotel room and/or my car.

I can't know for sure, however, I tried to drop my computer off at the Apple Store so I wouldn't have to drag it around the mall with me for an hour before it was time for my Genius Bar appointment. They promptly told me no.

I'm sure it has something to do with liability.

It's worth a try, I suppose.

Why don't you try calling the very store you plan on purchasing the MBP? In addition to finding out whether you can pick up at a later date, you can find out in advance whether they even have the model you want in stock.

I would've posted this sooner, but I've been very busy. Before purchasing my Macbook Pro, I asked the sales associate if he had heard of the yellow banding, he had. He also said that Apple is currently fixing the problem and that I shouldn't worry about getting a yellow screen.

I bought a 17' 1920x1200 Glossy 2 weeks ago, it had severe yellow banding (mostly one fifth of the screen on the left was yellow, occasionally the right) but after the software updates loaded it seems to have completely gone.

JBen, I know it's a little late now, but why didn't you just wait to buy it when you returned? Maybe I'm so frugal that I see such a tragedy in you losing $0.18 in interest by having that cash for an extra few days.

It seems certain Apple stores around the country are sold out of specific models, possibly due to the shortage of LED-backlit displays. Perhaps the OP didn't want to be find out later that the Apple store he planned on purchasing from was sold out.

I didn't wait because I saved almost 100 dollars on taxes. Everything is fine, this MBP is perfect! (And then the new power adapter comes out today...)
