Hi

I am running on a MBP 1.83 w/ 512mb ram. I want to upgrade, however I have been recently told that the mother board is dual channel, thus 2 512mb (1 gb total) sodims may be faster than 1 512mb and 1 1gb sodimms (1.5 gb total) is this true?

In addition is Gigaram ($100) a reputable company? they have a very postive score on Newegg. Or should I just stick with Cruical ($150).

Thx -Alex

Macbook RAM

"The chipset of the Intel CPU Macs supports dual-channel memory access
for improved performance if there's a like pair of memory modules installed"

Seems to me if you keep the same amounts in both slots, might run better.
I get my Apple Ram from here: Great quality @ mid-level prices: havent had any
problems with RAM from them yet in 3 years:
111.32 for a 1GB Stick
56.86 for 512MB

Does anybody have any insight in to the dual chanell issue?

I think that the dual channel issue is more related to using 2x512MB sticks vs. a single 1GB stick. If you have 1.5GB you'll almost certainly be faster than 1.0GB alone. I'm in the similar situation, and I'll be upgrading soon to 1.5GB as well.
