Macbook Pro Randomly restarts

I have had my Macbook Pro since September and every now and then (although more frequently recently) it will suddenly restart and all my settings such as Wallpaper and icons in Safari (back/forward etc) will return to the default set.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

It is a 2Ghz Core Duo with 2GB Ram.

Have you run Software Update to get the latest downloads?

I've had some simular problems. Don't have the problems with the settings though.

No restarts with 10.4.9, so far.
