I've just sold my iMac 24" and want to get a MacBook Pro. Given we in the UK aren't fortunate enough to have the newest models trickle into the Apple UK refurb shop, I'm faced with a dilemma. Do I go for the 17" 2.33GHz model from the refurb shop, or buy the base 15" 2.2GHz model new with a works discount. I'll get Applecare too either way. I know the 15" is the latest model, etc., but the 17" model really appeals for the larger screen and speedier CPU. Not really into games on the Mac, so the older GPU isn't of concern to me. Will probably hook either machine up to a 24" Dell monitor to give me the same display space as the iMac 24".

Any advice please?

I got a brand new 2.2 from computer warehouse but with a 160gb HDD for £1240. I was going to buy from apple refurb. But I missed out, so I went through to the shops. You have to decide do you want a 17" or 15" as they are 2 different machines. I love this 15" it is perfect.

You can get the new SR MBP's, but the sell out straight away.
