hey i went to the genius bar last friday because my isight was not being recognized by the system profiler. so they took it in and they called me on saturday telling me that they have found multiple problems with my mac like something wrong with the screen or it flickers or somtihng. they said they were goign to send it to the repair center. anyone know where that is? i hope it gets there and gets fixed and gets back to the store by this weekend when i come back from college so i can install leopard =D anyone else have any of these similar problems?

They have 2 different repair centers I think. One in Memphis, TN and one somewhere in Texas. It usually takes 1 day for the repair, but depending on the computer (if you have the LED) it could take longer.

Send--->They Receive (1 Day)---->Repair (same Day)----->Sent(hopefully same day)---> Received back(next day)

Hope that helps.

Usually, the turn-around time for Apple repairs is a week. However, there's a chance of a delay if they have to order the part and such. I do think that they should have LCD screens on hand though. Not to scare you or anything, but I read on another thread somewhere that the Memphis one sucks. I remember some members were saying how their computers came back looking abused.

I'm just letting the OP hear about the experiences I've had with Apple repairs. I've had to send in my computers for logic board and hinge repairs and it took about a week or less. However, one of these repairs took a week because I dropped it off at the Apple Store on a Friday evening, and they don't ship weekends apparently. That surprised me, but that's what genius told me. At any rate, I'm sure repair times will vary among users.

They are still LCD screens, the backlight is whats LED.

I would highly recommend anyone who sends a computer off for repair to either photograph the computer or have a genius note the condition of the computer pre-repair in the work order. There are numerous stories on MR about damage occurring at the repair facility. Apple is good about rectifying this (eventually), but it couldn't hurt. For me, my LCD replacement took 5 days. There is a # on your repair order that you can use to continuously check the progress of your repair.

it still hasnt arrived at the repair center..... damnit i need it back by friday!!! i cant stand using this thinkpad. once you go mac you cant go backkkk!

Thats how I got a new MacBook for my iBook. The seriously destroyed my computer. It was in perfect condition, came back with some of the worst damage I have ever seen. I didn't even know damage like could happen.

damnn mann you got me scared! maybe i shoulda just taken teh option to fix only the thing that was effecting my isight and not let them send it in to the repair center to fix all that other crap

Well, like I said, if you document everything then you will be ok. I tried to get them to replace my LCD in store after reading some horror stories but was told that it was not possible. In the end, my MBP came back in perfect condition. The only complaint I had was that the "new" screen they put on showed cosmetic damage at the bottom, but not enough for me to notice on a regular basis. Still, you have to wonder what is going through their heads when they seriously mess up a product.

Who knows, after all the B.S. of arguing with Apple, customer service makes things right and sometimes you end up with a newer/nicer laptop.
