My MacBook Pro retina mid-2012 fails to boot when the battery has charge, I don't see the Apple symbol or hear the standard startup chime. It boots perfectly fine with a totally drained battery while connected via the AC. The battery reports normal condition with 364 cycles (Apple replaced in early 2015). Running extended diagnostics reports everything is ok.

Once it boots successfully it's perfectly fine if using discrete graphics card but crashes shortly after with a kernel panic reporting "AGC GPU REGISTER RESTORE FAILED" next time it boots. Full details here https://gist.github.com/ElijahGlover/3d9c8c4e36389933bc2494c55924869d

Any ideas to resolve? Would Apple still fix even though it's out of warranty under their repair program? https://www.apple.com/au/support/macbookpro-videoissues/

The link you gave implies it's an extension to get these issues fixed. It has a tool to check if you're eligible it seems?

Going to drop it into the Apple shop next week. Looks like the graphics card is having similar issues

Good luck and keep us posted. I was going to recommend a call to Apple given what you wrote, but you came to the same conclusion
