Hi all,

I'm waiting for my second Macbook Pro replacement. The first one I received had a return/enter key which was out of alignment with the other keys, and which rubbed and stuck against the keyboard surround part of the casing. I sent it back. The replacement arrived a couple of days ago. It had a flickering screen, AND a similarly misaligned return key! I have returned that one too and am awaiting my third one...

Has anyone else noticed a misaligned return key? Could owners have a quick look to see if the key is a little bit out compared to all the other keys? Having received two with the same problem I'm wondering if this is a common thing...

This computer is to replace a very aging white iBook which had a perfect keyboard...

Thanks,
Sean

A few of my keys are raised on the right hand side of the keyboard, it annoys me to no end - but as this machine only cost £899 (refurbished) and it has never let me down, I can overlook it and the two dead pixels too ;)

Oh, I have a photo of it actually!

My return key on my SR MBP was misaligned - the left part of it closest to the spacebar was raised up slightly. I took it to the apple store and the genius popped it off, and put it back on, and it seems to be on straight now. He said maybe the little metal wire under the key was either bent or not inserted into the keyboard base properly at first.

My woes have got worse and I'm now awaiting my 4th replacement (If it's not right, I'll give up after this one and get a refund). My first was returned because of the dodgy return key. The second had a constantly flickery screen. The third had a darker, yellowish bottom left corner.

And the oddest thing is that ALL of them have had a misaligned return key! In each case it has been the ONLY key on the keyboard which is not cleanly lined up with the others. It has varied from very slightly out to really badly out. I'm wondering if ALL (UK?) MBPs have this feature. If they don't I can't believe how unlucky I've been. My spec is a 160gig HD which is non standard on my 2.2 machine, so I guess it's possible that might have something to do with it...

Can people check the allignment of their return key for me?
Thanks,
Sean

My UK 2.4 SR MBP has a great keyboard. My return key looks fine... can you post a picture of what it is you're talking about?

I can't at the moment as I'm awaiting number 4!
Thanks for checking. Was yours an off-the-shelf version or customised?
Sean
