Well I've had my MBP for a couple of days, so here are my thoughts (15.4'' model, 80GB, 512MB RAM, matte)

Portability: I move it often from my room to downstairs. I thought it would be too heavy for a soon-to-be college student, but it's not at all. Sure, it's heavier than I like, butt it's not unberable either.

Heat: The first nightt, I could have cooked eggs on itt, but it's cooled down a lot. With firefox open its usually is about 105-114 farenheit though if I'm importing CDs or doing other processor heavy tasks it will go up to 140. It's quite comfortable on my legs, but I wouldn't think about putting it on my bare legs.

Speed: With 512MB, it's so freaking fast. I can't imagine what it will do when I popp some more RAM into this thing.

Screen: my apple store only had matte, so it was an easy choice.

Magsafe: Great little feature, but it can be annoying when you have the laptop on your lap and will on occaison disconnect. Still, I prefer it over the old method.

Switcher Impressionss:
Everything is so much easier to use! I don't waste 5 minutes looking for something! Finder is amazing- I don't really use spotlight so much though. I can't get Mail to work. I like how this computer can be as secure as I want it to be. I don't regret the switch at all.

I just got my MBP 2.0 in today. I got the glossy screen, and I"M LOVING it. I'm in the middle of downloading the updates, and this baby is HOT! It's been on about 40 minutes, doing nothing but downloading updates. I'll post pics soon.

Congrats :)

Hopefully will get mine either this week or next week. You oughta stick another gig of ram in there. The difference in speed is phenomenal. Question: Do you have a bag for your lappy yet?

congrats! When i went from 512 RAM to 1 GB my macbook went from, "nice and fast" to "whoa."

As far as bags go, let me suggest waterfield.

I got the sleeve to use with a regular backpack (I'd rather people not know I'm carrying an expensive laptop around), but based on the quality of the sleeve, I'd bet their full bags are excellent as well. Check 'em out!

Congrats on your new Mac! How do find the portability other then moving it around the house?(taking it to cafes, school, library etc.) Im a business student and need a laptop thats very portable, but with a screen thats large enought to work on documents(spread sheets) comfortably.

The iBook i had was not quite large enough, although, the MacBook would be perfect if it came with a matte screen.
