Quadcore is coming to the Macbook Pro!!!! spread it around....

just kidding..

What speed bump could their be? 2.66ghz doesn't exist, at least I haven't seen anything on it. Only other cpu is the T7600G which is overclockable, only being offered by Dell.

I think a bit doubtful but hey not long to wait!

I think an identifiably new design might come in conjunction with Leopard (magnetic latch, different keyboard, secondary display on outside maybe).

Maybe BlueRay (option) if anything tomorrow! Bit to early for PMR hard drives.

I'm hoping they do absolutely nothing to it tomorrow... because my new 15" is due to show up any day now.

I don't seriously expect any major laptop revisions at MWSF... apart from the very faint possibility of a 13" or 12" MB or MBP at 1.5GHz. But big revs will probably wait for Santa Rosa and/or Penryn.

As I stated before, Apple isn't that company that stays on the new releases of CPUs. From what I have seen Dell is the company that gets the new CPUs and rushes them out. Plus I haven't read any rumors about Intel release a new Core 2 Duo cpu. But then again, I could be wrong.

Seriously, they only recently added Core 2 Duo processors - which is something I think they had been working on for a while (and they were one of the last mainstream companies to adopt the technology.)

Apple computers aren't the sort of thing you can slap a new engine in and send it out the door, they're stupidly complex and compacted, unlike the cookie-cutter designs of most companies (like dell.) It just takes a lot more time to sort things out in a way that works for space, cooling, power, etc.

The core2duo upgrade was just that simple. They didn't change anything else except the camera light.

I resent that.... :p

Sorry :p I just meant that Apple can focus far more time and energy into a handful of designs. Their fit and finish / design for the most part is impressive, especially the cooling system.

That button screws up my perfect score. :(

I thought with the C2D, Rev B, they changed the cooling vents and fans?

I was just kidding. I would compare Apple to how IBM developed their laptops. Put a lot of R&D into it for stability and reliability.

Still, one's the beauty and one's the beast haha.

This is unrelated to a MBP revision, but I think Apple needs to develop a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to match the MBP and cinema displays. You'd think their most expensive products would have some accessories, no? Especially considering how much media they seem to get.

They may be the beasts when comparing superficialities, but the thinkpads are superior in terms of ergonomics, durability and fit and finish. Apple designs beautiful computers, but their quality control does not compare to that used for thinkpads. As I always say, I would switch to a thinkpad in a flash if it could run os x legitimately.

Intel's new low-voltage (but not Ultra-Low Voltage) Core 2 Duo chips are out... oh let me see... January 2007.

They consume about half the power of Merom.

However, max clock speed is 1.5GHz (rising to 1.6GHz later this year).

Apple could make a smaller, cooler MacBook with these chips right now. But whether they're interested in lowering the performance bar compared to the current laptops remains to be seen.

Penryn chips towards the end of 2007 will be lower power (45nm process). Maybe small notebooks will wait until then.

yes, a smaller form factor macbook with flash memory technology (in essence an ultraportable) is among the rumored releases for tomorrow.

Exactly - compare a CD and a C2D MBP from the back and you'll see the beautiful new vents. Plus my C2D is super cool even using for hours on my lap!

Also the extra inputs such as FW800.

If there is any announcment of a new MBP model i would think it would the the rumoured 12" - but i don't think that is even likely at this event.
I think portable hardware (iPods, iPhones etc.), iTV and apps are on the board.
