What would you like to see in the next revision of the MacBook Pro?

Me:

-Flash Drive "SSHD" from SanDisk to speed up boot time
-4GB Memory Option and have system use the full 4gb instead of 3.2
-512mb Graphics Memory with NEW GPU
-Blu-Ray SuperDrive "I'm dreaming here" :~)
-Seperate Numeric Keypad on 17" model
-300GB 4200RPM HD option which was annouced not too long ago from.
-1680x1050 resolution for 15" model and 1080P Resolution for 17" model.

All I want is an acceptable screen!

Yes... a good screen that renders solid colours as they are: solid colours.
Also have higher resolutions (possible with res. independent Leopard).
Easily accessible hard drive bays.
2GB of ram standard (in a 1 x 2GB stick).

And maybe some small internal redesign to make the case a bit more warp resistant.

Why do you guys want an even higher resolution screens?! Its already a pain to see anything on the display!

What do I want? Well, a MacBook Pro... :D

The next revision should have quality screens, better graphics card, improved backlit keyboard (the backlight should illuminate not only the center, but the whole button, as on keyboards with more than just english characters backight doesnt look good), produce less heat!

I think the macbook is great how it is now. It does well doing what it's supposed to. :)

Independent graphics would be nice but I don't think Apple designed it to be used for graphics intense apps, just like the iBook.

Oo well this question could get asked a million times and I'd never get tired of answering it (a little differently on every occasion)!

I want a better GPU, a really thin lid & OLED-lit screen, integrated '3G' (EV-DO for the states, W-CMDA/UMTS for the rest of us), magnetic latch/snap closed lid, a completely reworked keyboard (still with a backlight of course), better battery life and less weight.

Good luck Steve.

-TV Tuner (is this so much to ask in a high end multimedia computer?)
-HDD Access light (hidden somewhere maybe?)
-Better speakers(!)
-Better trackpad button (perhaps the problem is the width of the button, being widescreen format AND a single button - every MBP button I've had screws up) - either split it in half and put a second button there (you only use the left side of it anyways) or make it stronger. Or better yet - strength test your damn product to simulate usage cycles and you'd discover the problem.
-Second DVI-out, this is something the card already supports - this would be a huge ROI thing for Apple - allowing users to hook up their MBP to multiple cinema displays (this is the only thing that kept me from buying 2 23" LCD's on the spot.)

I'm sure I'll think of some others.

OH, fingerprint reader! Just hide the damn thing next to the power button or something, they could even flush-mount it and draw a slight outline around the area - it wouldn't detract from the design at all.

Interesting :D

Well, for resolution real estate, 2x 23" makes more sense, especially from a cost point of view. The 30" also suffers from artifacts and slower response times.

Either way, you'd think their flagship laptops would support a major feature of their flagship displays.

I could care less to be honest. I'm getting a new MBP after Tuesday with iLife 07 to replace my current 1Ghz Ti Book with a broken hinge. Anything is better than that ;)

Now that Apple has the power, I would like the company to start focusing on the user and ergonomics, plus quality display:

1. Good quality display with 170degree viewing angles like offered by levono on the 15 inch thinkpads. I want the best in the industry, not the worst!

2. Ability to raise the display on rails upward OR detach the keyboard with a wireless connection.

3. Ability to tilt the display as far back as I want - like most other laptops on the market!

4. A better material for the casing: one that does not warp, bend and disfigure itself after moderate use. Some kind of composite material like the thinkpads? Not as sexy but much more useful and durable.

5. A better mouse button. Perhaps something more rounded like the old pismo's button.

6. More rounded edges.

7. Magnetic latch

8. Remove systemic WARP in display bezel. It's an embarrassment for Apple that this was not resolved several years ago!

9. Put slight thicker feet on it for better heat dissipation - simple and cheap!
