I wanted to know if anyone has encountered this before.

My Macbook Pro always seems to run really hot and the fans come on often.

On the weekend I removed lots of old documents and emails from my computer. I removed about 18-19 gigs of data total.

Now the machine runs way cooler and the fans comes on way less.

Is it common for the machine to run cooler with less data on the HD?

I had about 50 gigs of free space before. Now I have about 69 gigs of free space

Cheers

I think it's unrelated.

I could see if you were down to a gig or less, but if you already had 50 gigs free, it's not really freeing up a ton of needed scratch space.

Coincidence, maybe?

Ya it is no big deal, it worked fine before.

Now I can have the machine on my lap without burning myself.:)

if you got problems with that (heat on your lap) get smf fan control, tell it to run the fans around 3500 RPM they are still pretty quiet, and its nicer for your lap
