Hi Guys,

today, I went to Apple Store to get my MacBook Pro 13 early 2015 checked out for shifted lid problem( the lid shifts to right a little bit, when closed, it's obvious to see), and they told me there are some minor issues with my screen and they will replace it for free although I could not even see any issues. so they booked me for a screen part and I have to go back to drop off my laptop for repair.

after I got home, some concerns come up, first of all, if I let them replace my original screen, do they use refurbished part? or brand new part. secondly, I have been checking the manufacture date on my MacBook and so far I can only find

Manufacturer: 00000610
Model: 0000A029
Manufacture date: CECC0A00

this gives me the manufacturer as Samsung, but what about date? can anyone interpret date for me?

overall, should I proceed to let them replace my screen?

many thanks

As far as I remember, 610 is actually an LG, not Samsung. In the pre-retina days (TN panels), Samsung made a far superior screen to LG, but today i think it's a wash. I have a 13" late 2013 which I know to be an LG and it's spectacular. My 15" 2014 is a Samsung, and it is also spectacular.

If you're having your panel replaced, you're taking the chance of getting an inferior panel. I have a similar dilemma as my 2014 15" has the flaking coating issue (not bad though) and I am debating whether it's worth it to have it replaced. My display has no dead pixels and is excellent quality and the flaking is only happening in insignificant spots around the edges.

So I guess the question is: can you live with the current defect? If the replacement panel has defects (dead pixels?) or otherwise turns out to be inferior to your current display, can you deal with the hassle of having Apple replace it again (if they'll even do that)?

I'll probably opt to have my display replaced, but I'm leery about what I'll end up with.

Edit: This is the post (by netsped) which pretty much confirms the 610/A018 was an LG. My 2013 had those codes. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...a018-vs-a020-which-do-you-have.1688987/page-8

thanks for your input, i had exactly same concern and worried that I may have to replace it again.
after spoke with one of technicians at store, they confirmed me the screen they will replace with is a brand new one, so i went for it. I guess I will know what kinda screen i get in 3 - 5 days.

As for the manufacture date, any idea what is the date for Manufacture date: CECC0A00??

same screen is good news, just be super careful with the surface of the screen. i was cleaning mine very lightly and coating still came off. i'm thinking after i get my screen replaced i'll plan on using an air duster to keep it free of dust.
