Hello

I have a mid 2015 Macbook Pro (15 inch, intel core i7, Mojave) which has started to shutdown randomly when I have full power, but when it is not plugged into power. When I check the battery health, it says 'Normal'. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Jack

Hi Jack - I just recently dealt with the same issue myself. (15" MBP, late-2013 (purchased new in 2015), intel core I7). I took it to the genius bar and they felt sure I just needed a new battery - so a $120 repair. After 5 days, they came back and said that after replacing the battery, they were still having the same problem but worse - instead of being intermittent, now the laptop NEVER ran on battery alone. They could not figure out what was causing it and would need to start replacing other components to figure it out. They said the computer "was having trouble recognizing that a battery even existed." To go further, I'd need to pony up some serious money - close to $1k probably. It didn't make sense to spend $1k on a 4 year old laptop, so I declined. They did not charge me for the new battery since that didn't fix it. So now I am stuck being plugged in 100% of the time until I buy a new machine.

Sorry I don't have better news but that was how things turned out for me, fwiw. I hope you have better luck!

Hi Jenj, I'm disappointed to hear that, but thanks for letting me know. Maybe I'll take it to the Genius bar and see what they say about mine.
