My Macbook Pro recently started acting up and wouldn't go to sleep. It just hung there, and the only thing I could do was to hold the power button until it shutdown. After failing to fix it myself, I took it to a local Apple technical support center and waiting three days, they now tell me that they're going to have to ship it back to Apple and to backup all my files. The problem is that I'm going to be leaving for college this Sunday, so I really need my laptop now! Do I have any options or has anyone been able to fix the sleep problem? Could Apple at least send me a new laptop now and just take my current laptop in. I am going to college in another state, so this has turned out to be a really big hassle!

Yep, tried a PMU and PRAM reset. I also just reinstalled the OS. Now, it doesn't even go to the black screen. The colorful spinning wheel just goes on forever, and I can actually still work with the system (open programs, type, move the mouse, etc.). I tried standby mode in Windows and that seems to be working fine. Any suggestions? And for some reason, the startup seems to take longer than it used to.

And by the way, if this is a hardware problem, is there any way for Apple to send me a new notebook and just let me ship this one back? I have the latest model.

I've been having the same problem with my G5. I'll set it to sleep but it'll wake up a few seconds later by itself.

Well my won't even go to sleep in the first place. Searching the internet, there seems to be a least quite a few cases with this problem. Has anyone been able to solve it or know what's broken?

Unfortunately, my MBP which I got last week has some sleeping issues too.
It will go to sleep, but wake up nearly immediately again.

Resetting SMC didnt work either, I think I'll be re-installing OSX, and if that doesnt solve it, just call apple care..

Dont really want to part from my new shiny mbp though!

Someone else managed to find a solution?
