Macbook Pro Temp widget reading

Greetings! :D

I got a widget to see just how hot my Macbook Pro is (Feels hot to the touch). My temp widget reading is saying 109* F for my Smart Disk. What is my Smart disk and isnt this reading insanley high?:confused:

Nope, pretty low actually. That's 42 degrees celcius, which is actually average for components. Not sure about hard drives, but processors are usually fine up until about 70 celcius (158 Fahrenheit)

Which widget did you use and where can I get it?

my iMac was at 123 F the other night... i wouldnt worry about it...

Installed the widget but it says "No accessible sensor found". Is my MBP something wrong?:confused:

mine is the same way, i've tried god knows how many temperature monitor applications and widgets, none of them can find sensors on my macbook. anyone know what's up with that? :confused:

Edit: I did some research on the apple discussion boards, apparently none of the applications or widgets can read the sensors on the macbook pro yet. The only possibility is if you have a Seagate drive, the sensor on the drive is readable. Other than that there aren't any sensors that can be read yet, so if you don't have a Seagate drive you won't get any readings.

Over 80 C is usually the point where your supposed to worry. If it gets any hotter, I'd call Apple. (Though don't worry too much because your system will not let it get too hot)

My MBP only shows the temp of the HD. But that figures I guess, since it is being returned tomorrow. I got a logic board error from the extended hardware test and the machine gets damn hot even under battery.

Thanks for clearing this for me. My MBP has a Toshiba drive. I thought I've received a defective MBP.

Yeah, my CPU is pretty steady at 160 F now that I started folding, but 178? What are you doing?

My MBP, running on battery and only running safari and iChat is running 32C, or 89F. I must have the seagate drive, because it reads my "smardisk", which is presumably the HDD. Can't wait till an app can read the processor...

I have a new iMac 17" core duo 1.83ghz and I have yet to find a monitoring program that can read the processor temperature. Does anyone know of one that will work? None of the software in this thread seems to monitor my cpu temperature.

A SMART hard drive is capable of monitoring itself to alert you of failure (hopefully) before it happens. I think 95% if not all hard drives these days have this feature. (more)

My PowerBook G4 runs at around 120°F most of the time, and the power supply is actually hotter than the processor most of the time :eek:
