MacBook Pro to LG HDTV No Audio?

I have a new MacBook Pro. I bought a CablesToGo adapter (I'm in college so this is the best that the store had) and it connects with my HDMI cable. I can watch my Netflix on my TV but only the audio is coming from my MacBook. How can I get it to play through my LG HDTV?

If you go to System Preferences>Sound, do you see an option for selecting HDMI vs internal speakers?

No the only option is for the built in.

No the only option is for the built in.

I did everything and my problem is my MacBook isn't recognizing the HDMI cable so I can't find it anywhere in the settings. I might just need a new adapter.

could be the adapter, some older MDP to HDMI where before they supported audio

You might have to do what I have to do on my MacBook. Run a seperate cable from the headphone jack to the TV in order to get the audio there.
