MacBook Pro, Two Security Seals?

I just bought a MacBook Pro from an online store. I received it today but some things about its box bugged me.

I have bought many Apple products before and Apple's transparent security seal has been used for a long time, but I found strange that this one has two seals (as if the box had been opened and then sealed again). Everything looked brand new, the cords, manuals. As I had mentioned before I had too many of these computers so I know that it was packaged by Apple.
The battery hinge is a little lose which is not a big deal but it had been bugging me.
I am just worried that this machine might be refurbished by Apple or returned by a customer (on their 14 return policy), fixed up and then sold again.
I paid for a brand new machine, why should I get a repackaged item?

Please advise...

My MB came in a sleeve that had a seal on it was well. If that seal was broken then I'd probably return it, but otherwise I don't think it would bother me.

When I purchased my MBP from the Apple Park Meadows store I had two transparent seals on the actual box, both looked in-place and solid, it wasn't a new one over an opened one. Everything else was packed up tidily.

i had the same problem... but i just brushed it off once i started using it... everything seems to work and everything was packaged well.. so i figured what the hell... but i just purchased it under 2 weeks ago...

btw i purchased it at the Apple Store in Pasadena

had two seals.

My MBP's seal was on squint.

Someone got lazy with the seals - but I guess it is a crappy job sticking seals on things; maybe he thought it would be funny to stick two on, seeing as that's probably the only amusement he gets!

Mine had one solid seal on the box.

Mine had two seals too. However, because it came in the original shipping (the one it was shipped in from China to amazon.com), I tracked the box via UPS. It had arrived on July 16 in the afternoon at amazon's facilities. I ordered on the 18th and it was shipped on the morning of the 19th. There is virtually zero chance that amazon would have had time to sell it, get it back and ship it to me. Besides, the outer box (the one used from China) only had one piece of tape and it hadn't been cut.

Summary: Apple opened the seal for an unknown reason. I'm not concerned and I don't think you need to be either.

Oh, by the way, when I was tracking the box, UPS indicated that it was 'group shipment' and asked if I wanted to check on the other packages. I did, and it showed that Amazon had received 15 mbps with that shipment. Maybe you bought from amazon? If so, perhaps yours was one of them...

i don't believe that apple will sell you a refurbished machine. The most logical reason (IMHO) is the LED screen issues. If you have been following the thread on the 1/3 yellowness for the new LED screen, some people have received the double tapped box as well. I bet that apple "recalled" the machine before it leaves the factory and replace the LED screen or any other issues before it ship the SRMBP to you. Apple is too cheap to get a new box?

Anyways, if the seal is from apple and you have no yellowish on the lower 1/3, and your superdrive is functioning well (my first SRMBP had faulty Superdrive, and it wouldn't burn DL-DVDs). Then, i think it should be okay. Good luck! its a beautiful machine.
