Can anyone help? I am trying to capture old PAL and NTSC VHS video tapes to a digital format on my McBook Pro. Any ideas as to what devices (preferably firewire) that can connect to the Mac? I would like to have RCA input jacks capable of accepting bith APL and NTSC if possible.
Thanks

Do you have a MiniDV camcorder? If so you could plug in the VCR's outputs into the camcorders inputs and then connect the camcorder to your Macbook Pro via firewire. Utilizing the camcorders pass-through mode you should be able to capture your video in either iMovie, FCE, or FCP.
If you do not have access to a MiniDV camcorder, I guess you could opt to buy an analog to DV converter box which works as a sort of a bridge between the VCR and the computer. Here's two such converters:

Datavideo DAC-200 $185 www.datavideo.us

Canopus ADVC55 $229
