having an issue with my brand spanking new mbp. it won't wake from sleep. i called apple about it and they told me i needed to check a few things and if that doesn't work i will need to take it to the genius bar at the apple store and probably return it. anybody have these issues?

1. I know you're an experienced guy, but I gotta ask - hows the battery?

I realized on my MBP that if the battery is dead enough, it'll go to deep sleep, and even removing the battery does nothing - still asleep! Apparently there is an auxilliary battery inside, and it wont start until the main battery has at least a little juice.

2. If I were to sleep my machine with a USB device plugged in, then unplug the device while the computer is still asleep, it goes into a coma, and I have to 'trounce' the computer using hard boot to get it back.

Any of these help?

the issue seems to happen when i let the mbp sleep for an extended period of time, i.e. at night when i let the screen saver kick in and go to a deep sleep. this seems to be unrelated to the firmware issue that fixed the macbooks and macbook pros.

the battery happens to be fully charged. i'm guessing if resetting the pram and pmu doesn't fix the issue then getting another macbook pro will :D tonights test is resetting the pram and pmu and then letting it sleep tonight the same way with all usb devices unplugged.

it seems to me to be a hardware or firmware related issue. thanks for the ideas i will definately keep some in mind.
