Just curious,

When does anyone think there will be MacBook Pro's with built in Blu Ray drives? Sony already has theirs at the same price point. Apple said it was a supporter of Blu Ray. Its time to get on the bandwaggon! Apple brags about being on the cutting edge. Why not go Blu now? (note, I have both Blu Ray and HD DVD at home. I'd like nothing better than a combo drive that plays BOTH on my Mac Book Pro. But i'm just being realistic because Apple offically supports Blu Ray.)

Also, thru certain sources I've been privy to a major manufacturers new fall external Hard drive line. Pretty much all of them are going to support eSATA. Whats up with that? I haven't found a computer that even has an eSATA port! Its the cutting edge aparently. When will Macbook Pro go eSATA?

I think if they increased processor speed, RAM and added Blu Ray and eSATA with the leopard release it would really spur sales for Christmas. I myself am waiting to buy one.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't hold my breath, although it would be nice. I don't think that we will see an upgrade in the MBP in time for Christmas sales, but that is just my gut feeling.

eSATA would really be great. I bought an expresscard to connect my external raid box to my MBP on eSATA, but it's kind of clumsy having to unplug it etc. Problem is, where would they stick the port, almost all of the space available is used up on the 15,4". Check inside photographs, it's not easy to just add a port without removing something else.

Well,

Would there be room on the 17" Mac Book Pro? It's a "Pro" machine isn't it? Alot of its buyers are video/graphic editors who are using alot of hard drive arrays.

I was just thinking it would make sense for eSATA.

But then again, when can we expect our Blu Ray drive? Or Super Duper HD DVD/DVD/CD/Blu Ray Combo Burner?

remove a FW400 port?

I'd rather have eSATA than a 400 port...

Is eSATA a relatively new thing? I didn't even know it really existed till a few months ago. Is it the same as fiber? Like when you get a fiber channel card in your Mac Pro?
