Im deciding between Macbook pro with eGPU and iMac. Id use it for work (photoshop and other graphic programs), everyday use but I also want to do some gaming on it.

Portibility and being able to upgrade gpu later on sounds nice, but would it be comparable to an iMac?

It would be Macbook Pro 13 with 16gb ram and iris 650 + egpu or iMac 27 with 16gb ram and Radeon Pro 570

The eGPU should be the faster of the two options based on my own testing. At the very least you can buy a faster eGPU later on and get a nice screen. The iMac will never get faster than what you bought.

I agree with this 100%. You can get a nice MacBook Pro + 27" or larger monitor + GPU for around same money as an iMac. Also, you'd have a portable laptop when needed on the go.

neither will the MacBook. And you can guarantee a machine with only integrated graphics options will be cut sooner from the supported hardware list for new OSes than a machine with a dedicated GPU would. that has been the case with OSX for years now.

i'd get the iMac, and then an eGPU later down the road if you find you need it. the beauty of the eGPU option is you can use it on both kinds of machines.

Also with internal display? Ive heard that they enabled the option to use it with eGPU in Mojave

With 16gb of ram? Not where i live. Macbook pro + egpu alone would be a bit more than the imac i want to buy. And then monitor, mouse,keyboard...
