Hi all,

I have a Samsung 20" LCD that can display 1680X1050. When i connect it to the Macbook Pro and set it to that res, i shows on the external display but with black around the edges.

Kind of like it's not able to stretch the image. Is this correct?

Thanks

Darren

Are you using mirroring or letting each display have its own native resolution? I have a Samsung 204b and it works just fine at 1600x1200 while the laptop is at 1440x900. I can drag documents between the screens and even run Parallels on the laptop display while running OS X on the Samsung.

Very good work setup!

Cheers,

Its on Mirror....

I found a way around it.

Connect monitor

connect keyboard and mouse to MBP

close lid

press external keyboard to wake

Use monitor at full size

Try setting up the external monitor to 1680 x 1050 before closing the lid and waking it back up. It works on my ACD at that resolution, but I use both display, laptop and ACD.

Also, you can go to System Preferences > Displays, it should give you an option for setting the resolution.
