I thought it'd be nice to share my experience with a MacBook Pro.
Firstly, its a Rev.D (W8613) 1.83GHz 768MB 128VRAM.
Speed: It really is very quick. Doom3 works amazingly, shame I've lost interest in that game now. iLife apps are very quick. I have put my PowerBook side by side with the MacBook and the bootup speed is astounding!
Screen: The colours look really good, there's no horizontal lines like the PowerBook Dual Layer model. When closed it sits perfectly. Much much brighter than my PowerBook.
Heat: I don't know what all the fuss is about, my PowerBook got just as hot sometimes.
Trackpad: Not that impressed with the wideness of it, I keep putting two fingers on it which can confuse me and the MacBook. Maybe I'm too used the PowerBook trackpad, I'm sure I could get used to it.
Look: Very thin, I think it flex's more the the PowerBook, but only a little more. The backlit keyboard is very bright and appealing. Where it says "MacBook Pro" on the bottom of the display looks really nice, I love the way they made it reflect. Generally it looks more modern and nicer than the PowerBooks.
MagSafe: I have given this a good testing and it sure does work a treat, noticed usb cables stick to the power connecter but doesn't make any contact if done by accident.
Bootcamp: Finally I can play all my old games from when I had a windows box! Way!!!. It seems odd running Windows again, but very cool to have the freedom to choose.
Noises: I was expecting loud high pitched noises but to my suprise it made some quiet noises. This doesn't bother me in the slightest, my PowerBook made much worser noises in my opinion.
Wireless: Works better than my PowerBook did. I can now go in the kitchen and still watch a BBC news stream or continue downloading my bits and pieces.
I cant think of anything more to add other than, if you are thinking about upgrading to a MacBook, you won't regret it. My mind is now made up to do the upgrade. (I have borrowed this MacBook Pro).
Thanks for reading.
