Will the new mbp with santa rosa be black in color? I want a black mbp.:cool:
Do I need vista & paralles preinstalled if i buy now? or bootcamp is just fine for running a few window pgms? do anyone know with vista do you need xpsp2? it sure sucks and mess up your system.
 
Thankfully, despite neither Leopard nor the next revision MacBook Pro even being announced yet, I still know everything there is to know about both.

Boot Camp will be fine for running Windows and therefore Windows programs. You don't need XP to run Vista. Think of Boot Camp as a method to let your Mac run Windows natively and you don't need to XP to run Vista on a regular PC so you don't need it with Boot Camp either. You probably don't need Parallels if you have Boot Camp. If you start practising now, you'll be able to paint your new MacBook Pro black by the time it arrives. :)
 
There are a number of companies that will powered coat your Mac, a lot of them you can even buy a new Mac from them pre-painted. I myself still love the aluminum on the MBPs, even though I have been thinking of getting mine laser etched.:eek:

I know you dont need vista for xp or xp for vista.. I thought bootcamp would just install windows pgms without vista install. I see you need boot with win os
 
Yep, parallels and bootcamp only give you a way of running Windows. You have to supply Windows for everything else to run.
 
yes, you'll need it, I did had some problems... but them let me know that I really don't need to run no windows apps, oo.... I let my MBP free...

About color, I do like some nice metallic black on it.... but still love it now
 
woulda been great if you didnt needs windows, just parallels to run pgms.. ill go vista and parallels. thanks
 
Those colorware are so goddamn expensive. I just can't understand people paying hundreds of dollars for it.
 
Not quite as nice, but a black Speck case is a lot cheaper than Colorware.

I can't see Apple's pro line getting colored cases.

If you spray black paint in the exhaust vents and fry your motherboard, I'm sure Apple won't be too forthcoming to give you a replacement. Otherwise, I doubt it. You're not actually opening it, and you're not actually damaging it either. You might as well void your warranty in putting on a protective skin.

cross over is a program that will load /exe files on a intel Mac without having to have a Windows OS. I haven't been able to really use it as of yet though.

The only thing I have ever heard of that will allow you to run Windoze programs w/o a Windows OS is CrossOver Mac 6.0 from Codeweavers: "...you do it all easily and affordably, without needing a Microsoft operating system license."

I cannot vouch for it at all since I know nothing more than what I've read on the homepage...I only just found out about it this past Thursday.

If anyone knows anything about this, please post.

Crossover is a WINE derivative. I've no experience with Crossover but WINE on Linux is no great shakes. Some stuff works well, some kinda-sorta works and quite a lot flat out fails.

If you want to play games, just get XP Home and dual-boot.
 
The black rubberized case by TechShell looks pretty appealing...

but i got a clear speck case for 34 bucks. :p

I bought Crossover and it's excellent. It runs all of the Windows apps I need, sure it is a little slow at starting up, but it's a small price I'm willing to pay for not having to partition my hard drive and have Windows actually running.

i so want to laser etch my computer. trouble is, i have no idea what to etch. :confused:
