If you want to avoid stains buy black (my friend bought on day 1, his is quite clean) or simply keep your hands clean when using your computer.

I used to have an iBook. 6 Months, no stains.

It isn't cleanliness problem. If it were Apple wouldn't be replacing the discolored MacBook plastic. It's getting a little tiring seeing people say "oh just wash your hands".

Nobody knows exactly when Apple started shipping the MacBooks with better plastic, but if the one you do buy stains, Apple will replace it with the non-porous plastic for free. As far as I know, there hasn't been any sort of fix for the moo.

bought a black macbook today.

no whine/moo/sound whatsoever. in fact im concerned that the fans arent coming on often enough!

out of the box i put 2gb trancend RAM in, did a clean install of OSX (to remove printer drivers, etc etc.) and ran system update.

a couple of crashes so far... will have to run memtest overnight.

only real concern is the heat from this thing. its idling around mid 60 degrees, and under load up to 80 degrees C.

its really really hot on the underside (left) of the unit, and also above the keyboard.

other than that issue, no real problems.

vd

EDIT - completely fogot to state that this is a WEEK 25. purchased from apple online.
