Ok let me see if I understood right:
When I turn on my Macbook while its not plugged in, my iSight won't work. However, when my macbook is plugged in, the iSight works fine.
Try to unplug the power chord for 15 seconds and then plug back while pressing the powe

There's something wrong with the camera, so reset PRAM. If that doesn't help, call Apple.
