Macbook Problems...

since upgrading to OSX 10.4.9 My laptop has gained a problem where when attatching an external display, System Preferences won't close. A video of this happening is here: EDIT: Video Wouldn't Upload

Another problem i've had is my mac when using things sometimes randomly translates text in title bars or text on web pages to what looks like Chinese/Japanese when my macbook is configured for english. (This problem was around before the upgrade but thought i'd bring it up).

Boot from OS X DVD (restart, hold c and click on Disc Utility) and repair permissions.

Before doing a "repair permissions" please read This article, so you know what you are getting into. If 10.4.9 is buggy for you, you could downgrade to 10.4.8 till 10.4.9.1 patch comes out.
