when plugged in, is there a way to turn on the fan? I'm not too worried about noise as I come from pc laptops, but man, I can burn my fingers if I touch the back or undersides of the laptop. :)

I used that widget program to show me my fan dont turn on (at least not when I looked at it) but I want to turn it on. Any ideas?

As far as I know, fans aren't controllable from the OS. Then again, I'm a PC user (for now).

The OS does load fan drivers and sets the limits for the fan speeds (ie certain temp means certain fan speed). On a PC this is usually handled by the BIOS though.

Does your unit get hot (like car outside in the sun hot) under the left palmrest area and speaker? And like dashboard in the sun hot just under the words macbook pro on the keyboard side? For me, this is doing nothing, I just have the unit on. Oh and to be fair, this is in windows mode. I know mac mode it gets hot but forgot how hot. So this maybe because of a windows driver.

Btw, I finally heard the fan kick on. Was gaming and it came on.

Set all the performance settings to max, then run a huge photoshop script.
